Complete Streets

A street is not complete until all modes are accommodated! The Healthy Streets campaign will work for policies at all levels of government to ensure that all phases of planning and design accommodate pedestrians, cyclists and public transit along with motor vehicles in every project phase. DuPage County's 2004 Healthy Road Policy is a good example. Senate Bill 508 requires bicycle and pedestrian accommodation where the need is identified in all IDOT projects. Opportunities and funding will be pursued to remedy the safety and access problems caused by a lack of accommodation in the past.
