Northwest Chicago
Drive with Care Campaign
In 2005, the Drive With Care Zone reported:
Our goal: Reduce the number of car crashes by 50% by 2009
How does it work? Drive with Care has partnered with Ald. Ariel Reboyras, Ald, Tom Allen, Ald. Rey Colon local organizations and city agencies to reduce car crashes and reckless driving in the Drive With Care Zone. Along with street design and enforcement, the Drive With Care Pledge is a community-based tool for changing driver behavior.
What can you do? Help us reach our goal of getting 30,000 people to sign the Drive With Care Pledge. Take the Drive With Care Pledge and tell your friends and family behind the wheel to take it, too. See our volunteer page for more ways to get involved.
How do we know if it works? Drive With Care conducts driver behavior surveys of cell phone use, speeding and stop sign compliance in the Drive With Care Zone. We also received quarterly traffic crash reports from the Office of Emergency Management and Communications. The Drive With Care Campaign is monitored by the Drive With Care steering committee composed of aldermen, police, community leaders, health care workers, business owners and other stakeholders.
